Tinder suits you if
You're open to any kind of dating, enjoy swiping, and want the biggest possible crowd, whatever its age.
Comparison, checked 15 October 2026
The big mainstream swipe app, and a UK site where an older crowd says what it wants out loud.
Tinder, launched in 2012 and owned by Match Group, is the mainstream swipe app, and its own press room says almost 60% of its users are aged 18 to 30. Old F-Buddy is a UK site where grown-ups meet older lovers for no strings fun; half its members are 45 or over, and wanting something casual is the point.
Nothing stops you using both. The question is which one gets you to the kind of meet you actually want with the least time spent swiping.

Size. Tinder says it has passed 630 million downloads since launch, so in most towns there are a lot of people on it. You can swipe and chat without paying, and the Plus, Gold and Platinum subscriptions add extras for those who want them. Its safety work is serious too: since March 2026, every new user in the UK has had to pass Face Check, a video selfie that confirms they're real, and verified profiles carry a Photo Verified badge.
If you're open to anything, enjoy swiping and live somewhere busy, Tinder's reach is hard to beat.
Here is the difference that matters most for no strings fun. Tinder's community guidelines don't allow people to say on their public profile that they're looking for sex. On Old F-Buddy, that's what everyone joined for. You can write "after a regular lover, no strings" on your profile and the people who reply want the same thing.
It saves a lot of guesswork, and a lot of awkward first drinks. Asking someone to be your fuck buddy is far easier when you're both on the same page; our guide shows how.
With more than four in five members aged 35 or over, the faces you see are of an age you'd actually want to meet. Your daily matches weigh the age range you set, the distance you'll travel and the kind of arrangement you want, which means less scrolling and more talking. Members see your username and nearest town, never your name, and explicit photos are blurred until the viewer chooses to look.
It works on your phone too: our Old F-Buddy app page shows how to add it to your home screen in a few taps.
